The Importance of A Good Website Design for Small Business

by: Alexa Peters

Your website is the hub and center of your online business; it is the virtual representation of your company whether your company exists physically or not. When you are doing business online, people cannot see you physically like how they could if they were dealing with you in person. Hence, people do judge you by your covers. This is where a good web site design comes in.Imagine if you are running an brick and mortar company. Would you allow your salespersons to be dressed in shabby or casual clothes when they are dealing with your customers? By making your staff wear professional clothes, you are telling your customers that you do care about quality. This works simply because first impressions matter.

This is the same case with your website. If your website is put together shabbily and looks like a 5 minute “quick fix”, you are literally shouting to your visitors that you are not professional and you do not care for quality.

If you have a totally professional looking website layout, you are giving your visitors the perception that you have given meticulous attention to every detail and you care about professionalism. You are organised, focused and you are serious about your business

Here are some good design practices to follow:

1. Make sure you have clear directions on the navigation of your website. The navigation menu should be uncluttered and concise so that visitors know how to navigate around your website without confusion.

2. Reduce the number of images on your website. They make your site load very slowly and more often than not they are very unnecessary. If you think any image is essential on your site, make sure you optimize them using image editing programs so that they have a minimum file size.

3. Keep your text paragraphs at a reasonable length. If a paragraph is too long, you should split it into seperate paragraphs so that the text blocks will not be too big. This is important because a block of text that is too large will deter visitors from reading your content.

4. Make sure your website complies to web standards and make sure they are cross-browser compatible. If your website looks great in Internet Explorer but breaks horribly in Firefox and Opera, you will lose out on potential prospective visitors.

5. Avoid using scripting languages on your site unless it is absolutely necessary. Use scripting languages to handle or manipulate data, not to create visual effects on your website. Heavy scripts will slow down the loading time of your site and even crash some browsers. Also, scripts are not supported across all browsers, so some visitors might miss important information because of that.

Learning The Secret To Internet Success

How many times have you seen the sales pitch that someone has unlocked the secret to internet success? Probably more than once. Now for a fee, they want to share the secret with you. Why? To get your money, of course and in order to get your money back, you can share the same secret with others. Consider how many people now have that secret and you can begin to wonder how many people are left in the dark.

In reality, there is no secret to achieving internet success. It takes hard work and a complete understanding of how making money on the internet works. It begins by having a product or service that people want or need and ware willing to pay for it and continues with how you get the word out that you have it for sale. Prior to the explosion of internet use, it was called advertising and for all intents and purposes, the same methods used then are used today to make sales.

The internet however has made it possible for people to sell things without actually delivering what you have paid for and too many people fall into the trap. No person of reasonable intelligence will send someone money expecting nothing in return, but there are some folks who will send out money hoping they get something back. When it does not happen, they chalk it up to experience and look for something else. If you are that type of person, there are a lot of people in the world who would be willing to sell you a bridge or two. Don't worry. You can get your money back be reselling the bridge to someone else.

If that sounds far fetched, consider some of the offers you have received in your in box. You can spend a lot of time reading the email and then click on to their website and read some more, never really knowing exactly what you will receive when you send in your money. After you pay the fee, you may receive an instant download explaining how you too, can convince others to send you money. You then send out the same email selling others the exact same information.

Very similar to sending a self-address stamped envelope and a couple of dollars to learn how to make money stuffing envelopes. You receive instructions on how to place the same advertisement inviting others to send you a couple of buck in a self-addressed stamped envelope so you can send them the same information. And the offers continue to be advertised, but few complain because after all it was only a couple of bucks.

The real secret to making money on the internet is there is no secret. It is done the same way as it has been done for centuries. Delivering on promises of goods or services and treating your customers with the respect they deserve will provide an income whether online or off line. Goods and services sell far better than promises.

Are you Trying to Get Started Online and Don’t Know What to Do

Dear online entreprenuer,

Are you in the midst of trying to make something happen online and you are constantly failing to make anything back, what so ever… Maybe you are one of these people who click on banners for $0.01 and you are happy to recieve $1/week doing so…

Well what you do know in a case like this is how to refer somebody to join your affiliate link! This is a good start, but I assume that your methods are weak. This is a bold statement I know, but let me tell you that over 90% of people who are out there to make money online from clicking ads and things like that are making little or no money at all! Their methods of promoting are simply SPAM! STOP, don’t spam. Learn to market like a normal person for gods sake…

Let me tell you how to market!

Articles, for one is a way of marketing. Like this. This article you are reading right now is a great source for traffiic and affiliate sales. I am not spamming, I am not disturbing anybodies privacy.. I am teaching people how to make money. See, it is not that hard! What I am writing here is just my knowledge of many years in the field. Nothing else… If I can do this kind of marketing you can too. Don’t SPAM.

Another way to market is from Blogs. Do you own one already? Maybe you do. If you do, is it full of links to “click banner” sites or are you taking a shot in the dark and adding an affiliate link to some product that you are somewhere deep down inside hoping will make you money!? It doesn’t work like this! Let me tell you! Marketing is harder than it looks. It is also easy when you know how to do it. Don’t overpost in 100,000 blogs. Provide people with content! I have provided people with content for over 3 years and I have made a lot of money doing it. You should provide people with information that people want to read.

Now that you know what not to do. Let me tell you what to do instead!

Here is what you need to do in order to make money online:

INVEST. Yes that is right! You must put something in, in order to get something out. Well, this is not entirely true, but look at it this way. If you think that spamming a blog is free… Think again! How much time do you spend on this? Your investment is time… not money in this case. Well, what I am trying to say is that, if you spend hours spammin a forum or something similar you could as well spend it to build “your assets”.

What are my assets then!?

Your assets are things like a website, a list of customers a constant stream of multiple sources of income and a steady long term string of customers who trust you and want to know more from you because you can teach them what many other don’t. If you can cover all of these things you are bound for online marketing success! What you will need in order to get started is no doubt to invest. Either money or time. I strongly suggest you invest a little bit of both!

A list of what you will need in order to be successful on the internet:

#1 A group of buyers, or a market
#2 A product that can solve this markets needs
#3 A way to get people to see your offer (traffic)
#4 A way for you to keep and collect the contact information of these people so that you can sell to them again.
#5 Optionally a website that you can host your own website on.
#6 A mentor that can teach you and tell you what you are doing wrong and how to correct the mistakes.
#7 Money, Time and a good mindset!

I hope you understand what you will need in order to make it online these days. It is not as simple as spamming a “get paid to click” affiliate link in 100 forums for 2 hours each day. Spend that time to build your “empire”!

Start an Internet Marketing Business - The Power of Visualization and Mindsetting

For the most part, visualization and mindsetting play such a big role when you are starting up in your Internet marketing business. There are just numerous benefits that arise from having proper visualization and mindsetting with regards to your goals as an internet marketer.

Many a successful Internet mogul started out humbly but with a big vision for themselves that they nurtured to completion. Most had this can-do attitude that does not really think of matter in terms of figures but in terms of problems that each needs to be solved.

The simple exercise of visualization and mindsetting does not cost a dime, but it is priceless especially when you are embarking on new endeavors and daring to take yourself to higher levels.

All you will need to have the visualization and mindsetting work for you is the right resources, a bit of time each day to refresh on your vision and mindsets, and possibly a support system from a group of people who would be able to render you extra boost when you need it most.

Visualization can be done anywhere for as long as one can concentrate in that place. Whether you are young or old, male or female, rich or poor, you have the capacity to visualize yourself, what you want to become, your target market and your goals, among many other things.

Visualization is powerful because it enables you to build faith, look beyond the present and really be optimistic and driven to make your future look exactly as or even better than you have visualized it. In the business of internet marketing, much visualization will be needed as you try to carry out your goals. The Internet can be such a jungle.

There may be days that you will not be able to do as well as you have planned, but if you keep your visions intact, you will keep plugging until you have reached that desired status you have as an internet marketer.

Mindsetting is a very important activity as well. You will find that when you have setbacks, the things you have programmed in your head will either make or break you.

If you think you are capable and that you can surmount any circumstance, or if you have the mindset that the cause you are working in is really worth any level of sacrifice, you will be more likely to outlast those people who are just going about their business for shallow reasons.

On the other hand, if you find your mindset to be weak or lacking in foundation, you may find that minor setbacks in your business will stump you and make you give up.

Where’s Your Success?

Don’t you just get fed up hearing about all these successful people and how well they are doing? You don’t begrudge others their success, as you know they deserve to be successful, and have probably worked really hard to get what they have. But you know you have been trying really hard to be successful too, and no matter how hard you try nothing seems to work. It’s just not fair is it? So what’s the difference? There must be something that they’re doing that you aren’t but what is it?

Maybe there are some underlying beliefs you have, that you are not even aware of that are stopping you from getting what you want. At some core level you are sabotaging yourself without even being conscious of what you are doing. Hard to believe isn’t it?

You were born to be successful, but from a very early age you start learning how to be unsuccessful. As a kid you believed you could do and be anything you wanted with no limitations. In the games you played you actually believed you were superman or bat woman with no limitations on what you could do. When you sung into your pretend microphone you just knew you were going to be the next big rock star. You were happy, carefree and afraid of nothing.

Then as you grew up you started listening to the adults around you, and as they are bigger than you, you started believing everything they said. I’m sure you have heard them before…”you can’t have everything in life”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, “that’s just not practical” etc. etc. You started to believe what they said and all of a sudden your light is turned off and you stop wanting altogether. You start living life from a practical, logical perspective. “If I want to get anywhere in life I’ll have to work hard”. “It doesn’t matter what job I have as long as I can earn enough money to pay the bills”. Before you know it you have taken on layer after layer of all these beliefs and your whole life revolves around living your life within the boundaries of those beliefs.

Once you realize that this is what you’re doing, then you can start paying attention to what you’re thinking about on a daily basis. Just by recognizing what you’re thinking about will help you free up some of your attention around your old beliefs. You can begin to replace those old beliefs with some new ones that will start bringing you the things you want.

Once you recognize that a thought or belief is not serving you then you need to replace it with something that will move you in the direction of your dreams. Your ability to change the thoughts and ideas you have of yourself will determine your success.

In Sandy Forster’s book “How to be wildly Wealthy Fast” you will learn quick and easy success secrets that will help you achieve your dreams. And by following the simple strategies you’ll soon be on your way to creating the success you desire and deserve.

Self Motivation, You Have To Have It To Succeed

By:Stephen Meyer.

Self motivation is a key factor in building any legitimate home based business opportunities. With many things in our lives to distract us and even more things we might like to do better than working we must be self motivated to effectively build our home based business. Unlike the corporate world where we have bosses leaning over us and corporate deadlines to meet the legitimate home based business owner must set his own goals and have the motivation to see them through. Below are 5 tips to help you become self motivated.

5 Tips To becoming self motivated.

Tip Number One is to Involve The People You Know

When applying this first tip you are applying a technique that will affect your personal pride. In this step you are not alone but will instead open yourself up to the ridicule of those people you know best and hold closest. It is to involve other people in your projected goals. There are many people in our lives that we can involve from store clerks to friends, family and neighbors. The more people you involve by telling them what your project is and giving them a set due date the more motivated you will be to complete the task on time.

This will actually do two things for you. First it will give you motivation to complete your project on the specified date because you now have people who are expecting to see it at a certain time. Secondly it will push you to do your very best on your project. No one wants to show their friends something they just completed but was only done half as well as it could be. Your pride will not let you do that. By involving others you are motivating yourself to be the best you can be and to do the best work you possibly can. Peer pressure even when you create it yourself is a very strong motivational factor

The Second Tip IS To Give Yourself A Due Date

Like any business you have to have a set schedule that includes your legitimate home based business opportunities must have set business hours, when you will work and when you will quit. You must also have set schedules and due dates for the completion of your projects and home based business building goals. When setting your time frames and due dates make a list of what this schedule will do for you and your business and of the consequences of not meeting the deadline.

Understanding what you must do and the correct time frames they must be accomplished in and then setting due dates for completion of your work you are motivating yourself to complete each task on time. Knowing the consequences of not completing a task on time is also a strong motivational factor to kepp at until you are finished.

Step Three Is To Treat Yourself

Life has many examples of how treating yourself can give you motivation to complete your projects on time. Pavlov's dogs are a prime example. By building an expectation of a desired result you can push yourself to finish your work. If the result is a treat and you have a desire to receive that treat each time you start a task you will have the motivation to complete the task each and every time you start on a project.

Make your treat something that is special and something your strongly desire. Then do not give it to yourself until the task is completed. This might require a little self discipline especially if you are accustomed to treating yourself when ever you please. What it will do for you is the same thing it did for our children. It will cause you to complete your task and often times sooner than the time you had set. It will give you that little bit of motivation that is often needed in building your home based business.

Creating a Positive Mindset Is Tip Number Four

It is far to easy for the self employed legitimate home based business opportunities owner to think about the negative things in their lives. We are often alone with our thoughts and can easily let them slip off into the negative. That is something you must change right away and it's not that hard to do. If you have animals think of the crazy things they do. Dwell on the last trip you took with your family or possibly a friend who always makes you laugh. Put some fun music on for you to listen to. You can even start to think about the money your business will bring in as it grows and as you complete each project.

Put some fun music on or even sing to yourself. Start thinking about the fun you had last weekend. Concerning your home based business start thinking about how much money you will be making as your business grows. Just do what it takes to remove the negatives if only for a little while and start dwelling on all the positive things you can think of. Starting a project on a positive note will motivate you to finish it. Especially when the outcome of a finished project will in itself be a positive influence your life and your business

Giving Yourself A Break Is The Fifth Tip

It will be difficult to apply the other 4 motivational techniques if you are working yourself to death. Most jobs give their employees breaks during the day, set days off, and vacation time. As a home based business owner you must do the same thing for yourself. You need time away from your business to regenerate your spirits and your energy level so you can approach your business with a renewed spirit and a readiness to do the best you possibly can.

During the work day take a few minutes in between task to do something different that takes your mind away from your work. Step outside for a few minutes, play with your dog or cat do what ever is needed to remove yourself from your work. Schedule days off during the week. If your spouse has set days off during the week make those your days off as well. It is one of the joys of owning a legitimate home based business opportunities, you set your own schedule. Allowing time for yourself away from work will increase your motivational levels and make your job much more enjoyable.

Running Home Business Requires Dedication And Discipline

One of the most common causes of failures of work at home businesses is the fact the person operating the business should never have started in the first place. Not everyone has the dedication and, more importantly, the discipline needed to run their own business out of their home and will quickly find that setting their own hours and being at home all day, everyday is the rosy picture painted by the stories about self-employment.

Running your own business involves someone to handle sales, production, orders, billing and all of the other departments necessary to keep a business operating. When you first start out in a home business, the people that do the work will most likely be you and it will not take long to realize just how many hours are required to get everything done.

Then there’s the promise that often comes with home business opportunities about having the time and money to spend on vacations and having more time with the family. While the business is in its infancy, that is just not going to happen. There will be time spent with the family, but usually it is while you remind them that you are working and need to be left alone. The biggest adjustment when you start a home-based business is having family and friends understand that while you are at home, you are still working.

If your new business can be done completely from home, it is better to have a separate office area in which to work. An area that is off limits to other family members during your business hours, during which you can concentrate on the task at hand without interruption. One suggestion made by successful home business operators is to get a watchdog to sit at the door of your office to keep interruptions to a minimum. While this tip is given in jest, it is important to make sure your home office is treated as though you were working for someone else.

With most work at home businesses, you can set your own hours and, if possible, it will make your home life easier if you establish work hours around your family’s schedule. If there are hours when no one else is home, that should be time in which the bulk of your work is done.

You have probably heard the stories about people working at home in their pajamas and while this opportunity may be available, it probably isn’t a good idea. You will need to establish your work schedule, just as you would if someone else was writing your checks and then work your schedule. Your clients or customers are paying you to deliver a product or service in a timely manner and you will have to present professionalism to yourself as well as potential customers. By being at work when you are scheduled, you can get the promised work done on time and gain new clients based on your reputation.

Advertising Your Home Based Business

Having a home based business has many ups and downs to it. The last thing you want to worry about while trying to figure everything else out is whether or not your home based business is getting enough advertising to make a profit.

When it comes to advertising there are several different ways you can do this and some may even work better than others but you want to be sure to reach as many audiences as you can in order to provide yourself the best outcome. In this article I will provide a few different ways you can advertise your business and hopefully one, if not more, will work for you.

Newspaper Advertisement

We all have seen how powerful the newspapers are. They cover all the news, good and bad, show job listings, and even advertise businesses. Though this can be quite costly, depending on how big you want the ad to be and how long you want it to run, it is still one of today’s best methods in getting the word out there about you, your business and what you can do for the public.

Television Advertisement

This is yet another expensive, yet effective, way to get the word out. Most people in America own a television, or at the very least can find a way to view one. You know as well as I do that when you are right in the middle of the best part of your favorite show, there comes a commercial break. Commercials are where people who run businesses or offer some sort of service tell about their product(s) and try to get you to buy from them or use their services instead of someone else’s. Why not put your service out there for the public to see and decide if it is something they want or need. You might be surprised how many actually watch the commercials.

Internet Advertisement

This seems to be one of the best and most inexpensive way to get the word out about your business and the product or service you offer. The best part about it is that you can set up your company’s own website and put whatever it is that you think will help your company. Be sure when doing this though that you keep the information on your company’s website up to date with current information. Example: If you are having a sale but it ends in a week, put the information on there about the sale, but go back in a week and take the info off. You don’t want to advertise something that is not happening as you would have to honor that and may end up losing money in the end.

Top 10 Search Engine Optimization Strategies For Your Website!

By Michael Fleischner | Marketing Expert, Internet Marketing Secrets*

Although the concept of search engine optimization can be somewhat complex, there are a number of basic search engine optimization techniques you can use to improve your organic search results. Keep the following in mind when trying to achieve top rankings for your website.

1. Meta Tags.
Meta tags are simple lines of code at the top of your web page programming that tell search engines about your page. Include the title tag, keyword stag, description tag, and robots tag on each page.

2. Create and update your site map.
Developing a site map is a simple way of giving search engines the information they need to crawl your entire website. There are plenty of free software packages on the web that can help you generate a sitemap. Once you create a site map, submit it to Google and Yahoo.

3. Ensure that all navigation is in HTML.
All too often, navigational items are in the form of java script. Even though navigation technically still works in this format, it’s not optimized. Create your navigation in HTML to enhance internal links throughout your website.

4. Check that all images include ALT text.
Your image’s alt text is spidered by search engines. If you’re not including your keywords in alt text, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity for improved search engine result placements. Label all of your images properly.

5. Use Flash content sparingly.
Content generated through java script or flash is a big no-no. Some webmasters like to use flash because of the presentation. If you must, use it sparingly, but only after your site has been properly optimized with basic search engine optimization in mind.

6. Make sure that your website code is clean.
Keep in mind when optimizing a web page crawlers are basically only looking at your source code. When programming your web pages, having W3C compliant code can make all the difference. Run your code through a W3C validator before promoting.

7. Place keywords in your page content.
Search engines scan your website and web pages for keywords. Shoot for a keyword density of between two and eight percent. Google likes your page to be at the lower end of this scale and Yahoo at the upper end.

8. Submit your website to search engine directories.
It’s always a good idea to let large search engine directories know that you’re out there. Submit your website URL to directories like Google, Yahoo, and DMOZ.

9. Build links to your website.
Consider building a link exchange program or create one-way links to your site using articles or forum posts. All major search engines value the importance of your website based on how many others websites are linking to it.

10. Stay the course.
Good optimization takes time. People expect to see results immediately. You may very well see improvements in a short period, but reaching the number one position takes time. Be patient.
Learning to optimize your website for search engines takes time and patience. Start by applying basic search engine optimization principles. If you’re new to website optimization, or even a well seasoned veteran, begin by prioritizing which pages are most important to you and go from there. Soon you’ll find yourself moving up the rankings.

The Importance and Benefits of Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization a.k.a SEO can make the content of your web pages more relevant, more attractive, and more easily read by search engines and their crawling and indexing software. SEO is a very often discussed subject when it comes to planning a website. Planning Search Engine Optimization is one of the most important steps to take if you want to prepare your website(s) to rank high in the search engines. Especially if you decide to make a business on internet, SEO should be one of the most highly ranked topics. Conclusion: Search engine optimization is the tool that can ensure that your site will be listed within relevant search results, and as close as possible to the top. There is also other techniques which can be considered side by side with Search engine Optimization, for example Article Writing and submission of these to directories. But that is another story.

There is a lot of SEO-strategies to evaluate, but you should consider to meet the requirements of the search engines. The people behind the search engine companies is always working to improve their services and make them better. For a long time now, a lot of webmasters trying to challenge Google, Yahoo, MSN and so on with so-called Black-Hat techniques to push their own, or their customers websites to get better rankings. Some of the following SEO methods are referred to as spamming, and you should always avoid them: Doorway-Pages, hidden links or text, irrelevant keywords in the pages and so on. The search engine companies fight them back and unmask their strategies. The companies wants all the competition to be fairly and honest and don't want that someone will gain advantages in an unethical manner. Everyone have to follow the rules.

But although you decide to follow the rules of the game, there is a lot of legal actions you can take to rank higher in the search engines. Let's say that you want to compete in a certain niche and you recognize that one of the competitors have use some SEO techniques to rank higher. If you perform a smarter and more detailed job around this you will beat the competition. Search engine optimization is representing a large sphere that you have to dedicate a lot of time and specialize on.

Some basic stuff to consider when planning your SEO.

- Keyword research. Use time to find the right keywords for your site and make a strategy for using them correctly. This is often a difficult process, but the very most important step in the process. A good keyword strategy implementation can boost your page right to the top in the search engines for your chosen keyword(s). Be sure that your keyword combination is a good phrase when it comes to terms of searches per day and competition. There is a lot of good tools out there and I can recommend a few: WordTracker - This have a free tool, but also a professional one if you are really serious or might have SEO as your business career. Another good and free tool is google adwords keyword tool. When it comes to software to control this process, www.goodkeywords.com is a fair good one.

- Link Strategies. A good link strategy is of the utmost importance. When already well-ranked sites links back to your site you will have a great advantage, because people will easily find your site. Take your time to find and submit your site to so-called Link Directories, there is hundreds of them out there. This can take time, but you will gain tenfold in profits in the long run. Another link strategy is to have an agreement with others to exchange links.

- Chosing the right domain name. After your keyword research you should pick out a domain name that is relevant for your selected phrase.

- Sitemap. It is always a good optimizing practice to include this, because it give your visitors extra value and the search engines likes it.

Finally, we can say that search engine optimization is more than just optimizing the actual text on a page, it also involves getting a lot of high quality, relevant links from others to your site.

Do you have what it takes to be an e-entrepreneur?

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy
Author of "Dotcomology - The Science of
Making Money Online"

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work from home and make money on the Internet. But before you even turn on your computer, the first question you have to ask yourself is whether you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t for everyone. Some people like the commute. They really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what to do, and they like the routine of working nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are concerned about the risk of starting up their own business. They’re not sure it’s worth the investment of time and money, and they’re scared of the responsibility that comes with running their own company. They wonder if there is another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful, self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t happen without effort. It didn’t happen without at least some initial investment of both time and money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now without me making sure that the taxes are filed and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my business makes. If you’re prepared to give an e-business the time, the work and the money it needs to get started and get growing, it can happen for you too.

Top Work At Home Business Opportunities

Depending on you experience and education there are many opportunities to begin your own home based business that can put your previous job responsibilities to work for you. Many times people find themselves suddenly out of a job due to downsizing or the closing of a business and even retirees occasionally want the get out of the house, but are reluctant to seek a job with another employer.

Some of the hottest markets today are in fitness and exercise programs and people who have spent years in training may qualify as a personal trainer. You may also look at becoming a yoga instructor if you have that type of experience as many schools are always on the lookout for qualified teachers. If dancing is your forte, consider offering weekly dance lessons at a local community center to put your experience to good use.

Former managers and executives are finding having their own management consulting business can offer a good part-time income while sharing the experience gained through their years of experience. Finance, marketing and labor negotiating are a few of the fields that offer great opportunities. The medical field is wide open for many non-patient procedures, such as accounting, billing and transcription services. With those backgrounds it should be easy to have your own business offering them on a contract basis to doctors, hospitals and health clinics. If you are really experienced in transcription services many law offices use these services frequently and can’t afford a full-time person to perform this part-time job function.

One job possibility that requires no special education is one as a personal shopper. Many busy executives are too busy to run to the store for basic supplies and are willing to pay someone else to shop for them. The challenge with this type of service is being on call as well as remaining non-judgmental about their product choices. You may end up buying everything from food to clothing as well as personal items and possibly birthday cards for each spouse, but since they are paying for your service as well as the merchandise, it shouldn’t be your place to criticize.

If all of your friends and family count on you to help them with their computer issues, you might consider a home business as a computer consultant. Not the 24/7 computer help hotline, but if someone wants to add memory to their system or upgrade their software you can become the expert they call to get it done.

How To Survive In An Online Business

If your company does not offer its services/products online, then you're definitely living in the Stone Age. Businesses today realize that in order to stay competitive, they have to communicate with today's audience who do business primarily online
Running an online business means that you have a global audience. And having a global audience means that your store is up and running twenty four hours every day and seven days of the week. While your customers from New York might be sleeping, those from Tokyo would surely be awake. Therefore an online business is one that never sleeps. It is one that is always on call by customers. As such, an online business must be manned at all times, keeping a close watch on potential business.

In managing an online business, communication is important. Using email and instant messaging as a form of communication between you and your staff will surely be beneficial. There are also different technologies such as the VoIP that enables you to talk with your business partners and your staff from all over the world quite easily. But since you and your associates live in different time zones it is important to set up a specific time of the day when you can communicate with them about the updates and different issues that your business face today and what they need to do about it. You should make sure that they follow your instruction and schedule strictly.

Meetings are also a must for online businesses. Meetings are where you'll know the issues hounding your employees and problems that the business is facing. To be able to save on time and effort, online businesses today can meet in an online conference room. This will eradicate the need for physical space and manual preparations.

Another way to survive online is to build up your brand! Yes, brand is important even though you're on the Internet. Building your brand means providing good products, fast services, and pleasant experiences to your customers. Yes, you'll definitely want your customers to have pleasant experiences. Remember, word spreads fast on the Internet. If you have one customer who had a not-so-good time in dealing with your online business and spreads the rumor, then chances are your name will be ruined.

Don't forget that your website is the face of your online business. Surviving in the online world means that your online business must be able to keep up with the latest technology. And in designing your storefront always keep navigation in mind. A potential customer would not want to visit twenty different web pages just to buy a certain product.

Surviving your online business is tough. Everyday, there are thousands of companies going online and millions of individuals setting up an online business. Ultimately, the key is to success in this endeavor is to love what you do. After all, not everyone gets to touch lives in a global scale.

Tips To Make Home Based Business A Success

What type of business you operate from the home is totally up to you, but there are certain things that you will need to do to help insure its success. While visions of living large comes immediately to mind for many who choose to run their own home-based business, they often forget that it is a business. Running a home business often gives people the misunderstanding that they can dictate every part of their operation and while there are many aspects of a home business in which they are completely in charge, customers and clients will also have input on many functions.

The first thing needed to run a successful home business is a set schedule. It may be easy to stay up late to watch a movie and repeatedly hit the snooze button on your alarm clock, but when dealing with clients over the phone you really do not want them to think their early morning phone call rousted you from a sound sleep. While having a lot of free time may be appealing and taking naps in the middle of the day may be attractive, keeping regular hours is important to any business.

Make sure your office is only used as an office. In addition to the tax benefits of carving out a space used strictly for work, you will also have the feeling when you walk into the room in the morning that it is time to go to work. Similarly, when the day is over and you leave the office you need to feel as though you have gone home for the day. Just as you want to keep family distractions out of the office, you need to keep work distractions out of the rest of the house.

Being professional in all business dealings when in your home office will help preserve your image as a business owner. If you cannot afford a separate telephone line for the business, during your normal business hours answer the phone in a professional manner.

Unless your business is the field of dreams, simply building it will not guarantee customers will show up. Advertising ad marketing is essential to any business, even those run exclusively online. Chances are there is no sign in front of your home that indicates you are open for business, inviting passers-by to stop in and see what you have to offer. The only way anyone knows you are there is through advertising.

Build a website, even if you will not be conducting any business online. It can serve as your web-based sales pamphlet and include information about you, your experience and your business. Including prominent contact information on the first page of your website is a key to obtaining more business, but you should also have a contact form available for people to simply send in a request for information or for answering questions.

Starting a Small Business From the Ground Up

From the housemaid in a small Texas town near the Mexico border to the CEO of a multimillion dollar corporation in the middle of Silicon Valley, all of us at one time or another have dreamed of opening our own business and making ourselves rich, rather than helping someone else get there. What’s great about today’s business climate is the relative ease with which young and old Americans alike, foreigners and natives, college educated and non, can start their own small businesses. If you’ve been dreaming of dropping out of the corporate grind, the minimum wage slavery, or just want to have more control over your destiny, read on for a look at how you too
can become a sterling example of the American dream gone right.

You may be thinking: but I have no money. It takes money to start your own business. This is true, but seldom to people open their small business with their own money. Fortunately, we live in a country that encourages the entrepreneur, as long as he or she can demonstrate that they know what they’re doing. Banks are perhaps more eager to hand out small business loans than any other type. There are plenty of government agencies that can also be counted upon to give money to the aspiring small businessman. And then there are venture capitalists and angel investors who make
their entire living putting money into startup companies in the calculated risk that they will see a positive return on their investment strategy. All you need is a great idea, a solid and complete business plan, and the type of personality that can convince those with money to hand it over.

If the business you’re planning to open is in the same field you’ve already been working in, you probably have a list of contacts already in the field. Now, there are ethical and legal considerations here. You can’t simply steal clients using inside information you have from working at another company. You can, however, use you contacts in the manufacturing and vending fields to help you get started. If you have personal relationships with your customers, there’s nothing wrong with letting them know you’ll soon be going into business for yourself. If they choose to give your
company a shot, you should be in the clear. On the whole, however, it may be best not to go into direct competition with the company you’ve worked for. You can then use your coworkers and managers for help in getting off on the right foot. If your new business is at right angles with the company you’re leaving, you may be able to help each other.

Your next step is to research the marketplace. This should be done before anything else. You have to know what has worked in your chosen field and what hasn’t. What has been tried before and what might make a big splash in the industry. Don’t come to the dance with nothing new to offer. You can compete on prices, and you can compete on service. But the best form of competition comes in exciting innovation. Think of at least one great idea before you open your own business. Something no one else has tried. You will set yourself apart right from the start, and sometimes that’s all you need.
